Metals 2019, organized by Katie MacDonald, who lectures Core, Sculpture, and Metals at Wayne State University of Detroit, is a compilation of featured works from ten regional jewelry and metalsmithing programs. It is sponsored by the Michigan Silversmiths Guild, founded in 1948, which aims to connect and create community among those who see metalsmithing as their passion. Grand Valley is ecstatic to be part of this collection of works presented by the James Pearson Duffy Department of Art and the Art Department Gallery.
Participating from Grand Valley are faculty members Renée Zettle-Sterling, Peter Antor, and Caitlyn Scelcey, along with JEM students and alumni. The opening reception is held on January 11 from 5 to 8 p.m., and the gallery will remain up until February 1st. You can click here for information on their hours.
